Small Business Web Presence
Today, a business has a variety of web mediums at it’s disposal. Small business web presence can be improved with the proper management of these mediums.
The Business Website
Web users are searching Google to find information on websites. The website is the strongest web element for nearly all businesses. The typical home page is the primary impact point. Therefore, it needs to be well designed and able to answer the visitors’ primary questions.
While the website is the primary hub of a business’s web marketing, it’s impact will grow exponentially when it is supported by other web elements. For that reason, businesses are putting more resources on elements like social media.
The second most searched element on the web is YouTube. And it’s results don’t include websites. So a business that does not incorporate the use of videos is loosing out on a huge number of searches.
Web presence for a small business is significantly enhanced with social media. Different businesses need different elements. For example, a small cafe can capitalize on short, time sensitive posts. If they are reaching the end of a day and have dairy products that will go bad overnight, then they can post “today only” specials on products that include those dairy items. Reaching a market for such a promotion is ideal for a micro blog, like Twitter. An example for different social media elements would be a home builder. For the home builder, content is not as time sensitive and can be longer, as with blogs. The builder’s customer is not going to make an instant decision. Therefore, the content is not nearly a time sensitive.
